Design and History
This Comet Garden Ornamental Windmill has been designed and adapted from the larger and still in production Comet D Pattern style windmill. All of the original appealing design characteristics from the it's larger brother (the fully operational Comet windmill) brother have been incorporated into this new ornamental design feature windmill - with a focus on "build strength and quality!"
The main windmill head design comes straight from the Comet D Pattern mill and all of the tower design is a direct scale down model of the original design that is still used today.

Australian Design & Heritage
We are proud that our product is wholly Australian owned, designed and manufactured and that comes with the Comet Windmill heritage and iconic Australian history as part of its design appeal.
The windmill is aimed at those wanting to "make a statement" on their property, in their garden or on their business premises. Our clients have used the Comet Garden Windmill in settings such as:
- a beautiful driveway or carpark entrance feature
- an attractive and unique garden feature
- promoting a business with a highly recognisable feature and custom branding
- celebrate your nationality with a flag design
- celebrate your footy or sports team
- commemorating a loved one
Appearance and Customisation
The windmill comes in a single version we refer to as "RUSTIC '' - meaning the entire windmill apart from the galvanised sails and sail brackets is left in the raw steel state.
Galvanised Paint / Custom Colours
For those who would like a new or galvanised look we recommend using a quality "cold gal" paint prior to assembly (as some customers have done). For a coloured finish, you can use a quality "two pac" paint designed for metal/steel. This could be done in the original Comet Iron Red colour, or any colour of your choice.
Custom Designs / Wordmark
To customise the appearance of the windmill with your own text, image, message or business branding you can have signage printed that matches the vane shape, that you can then glue / attached to it. Call us to discuss options and pricing for printing custom sail designs.
Quality & Longevity
Australian Made and Hand Crafted - The Comet Garden Windmill is fully hand crafted and welded in the main Comet Windmill factory at Macksville NSW. It is also partially assembled and quality checked prior to packing, ready for despatch.
With a focus on quality - we use all Australian steel. The tower legs are 20mm x 20mm x 3mm thick, rails 20mm wide x 3mm thick flat steel, and braces are 12mm wide x 3mm thick flat steel.
Longevity and Maintenance - The windmill is constructed from Australian steel and is an operational (non-water pumping) windmill that is going to last. All of the main head assembly and all other main structural parts are hand welded at the Comet Windmill main factory. Driveshaft bearings are locally sourced and have grease nipples for easy lubrication. The turntable bearing is also locally sourced and simply needs greasing at regular intervals.
Installation
The Comet Garden Windmill needs to be securely fastened to the ground for safety and to withstand high winds and storms and concrete footings (or a small slab) are highly recommended.
Hardware / fasteners will depend on your specific installation preferences and so are not provided and you will need to be source these yourself.
3 Month Warranty
The Comet Garden Windmill comes with a 3 month warranty on all parts for any defects in manufacturing. Installation and on-going maintenance (such as repainting, greasing bearings if needed, storm damage etc) is the sole responsibility of the buyer/owner.
Normal aging (such as surface rust) and wear and tear is not covered by any warranty.
